In addition, every Advent(ure) Box comes with a booklet that welcomes you to your fossil adventure, goes over the hows, whats, wheres, and whys of the Florida fossil hunting scene, shows a couple maps of Florida’s ancient coastlines to help you visualize what conditions were like all those years ago, offers up a shark tooth ID guide to be used in this and future fossil hunting adventures, and more!
These calendars are a real treat and are a true labor of love. No detail has been overlooked – from hand clipping the corners of every single insert one at a time, to the day to day flow of the calendar itself, with numerous deep dives and/or callbacks to previous day’s lessons (take days two and three, for example, where we compare two of the world’s most ubiquitous herbivores and do a deep dive on the differences between their parent groups, the Artiodactyls and Perissodactyls).

For those unfamiliar, the Bone Valley Formation (or member) is a series of fossil-rich deposits found in central Florida’s “phosphate district.” These deposits are internationally renowned for the quality and especially color of fossils they produce, with Bone Valley shark teeth in particular being famed for their creamy white, tan, or light gray roots and uniquely colored crowns in various shades of blue, green, yellow, white, tan, and orange. Though much of this region was once open to fossil hunters, access has been severely restricted over the last several decades, drastically reducing the supply of these amazing teeth and making them more sought after than ever by collectors the world over.
This is your chance to own some of the most limited, sought after shark teeth in the world!
