For those unfamiliar, the Bone Valley Formation (or member) is a series of fossil-rich deposits found in central Florida’s “phosphate district.” These deposits are internationally renowned for the quality and especially color of fossils they produce, with Bone Valley shark teeth in particular being famed for their creamy white, tan, or light gray roots and uniquely colored crowns in various shades of blue, green, yellow, white, tan, and orange. Though much of this region was once open to fossil hunters, access has been severely restricted over the last several decades, drastically reducing the supply of these amazing teeth and making them more sought after than ever by collectors the world over.
